Scrumptious S'mores Recipes

S'mores have been a traditional camping treat for decades. We all love the toasted marshmallow goodie and often scrimp on our meals to save space for the them. Over the past few years creative campers have come up with a few twists to the classic treat. We have put together our favourites and hope that you get a chance this summer not just to try one, but to try them all.

Don't worry, if you won't have a chance to get to the campground this year, we have also included cooking ideas for at home.

The Camper Classic S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a plain milk chocolate bar/bars, a bag of large marshmallows.

Equipment: Campfire, fire pit and a number of long sticks or BBQ skewers.

Directions: Make sure to break your graham crackers into squares, place an equal size piece of chocolate of half of the graham crackers. One layer will serve as the bottom of the s'more and the other will be the top to hold all the goodness in.

Lay your squares off to the side while you toast your marshmallow. Remember to turn your stick so that your marshmallow is toasted on all sides. When it is golden brown in colour, and begins to look a little gooey, carefully slide it onto the chocolate covered graham cracker.

Next, take your second/top cracker and squeeze it together. Much like you would when making a sandwich. Let it sit and cool for a bit. The heat will begin to melt the chocolate.

Once cooled, it's time to enjoy this mouth watering treat.

  • Microwave S'mores - Place one graham cracker square on a plate. Place the marshmallow on the square. The place in the microwave on high for 10-14 seconds. Remove the plate from the microwave, and top with your chocolate and other desired ingredients. Add your second graham cracker, press together, cool and enjoy!
