We would like to thank all of our campers for writing these Facebook Reviews! Our campers and Mother Nature have ensured that our 2016 camping season was one of our best EVER!

"We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable time than we had at Campers Cove. The campground was marvelous, the owners superb, and the company fabulous. You have an ideal campground and family. I don't think we'll ever forget our stay and the fabulous views from the bluff. Jeff thanks for the ice cream it was delicious on those hot days we had while there. The Xmas in July turkey dinner was great. We are fortunate to have such wonderful friends George & Shona (thanks Jeff for giving our tour guide George the week off). We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend your campground to anyone we know headed your way."
Kerry & Adela Glew

"We always have a great time at Campers Cove. The campground is well taken care of by the kind and courteous staff who will go the extra mile to ensure your stay is enjoyable. There is always something going on for everyone to enjoy. My favourite part is meeting new friends, bonfires and listening to waves at night. Thank you for all the wonderful memories at Campers Cove!" Julie Andy Westwood-Gagnier

"I chose Campers Cove as our first campground as new fifth wheel owners. Close enough to Pelee for the bird festival, it looked like a great starting place for our new adventures. I cannot thank the staff enough for being so helpful and nice to newbies!!! Beautiful and peaceful campground, will definitely want to return." Chantel Chapdelaine

"My wife and I stayed five nights and I can't say enough how happy we were that we chose Campers Cove, they helped us out with a trailer issue and the owners stopped by to check in on us. We will return every year for the birding festival in Point Pelee and Campers Cove is where we will stay. When we walked into the showers/toilets I thought we were in a five star hotel." Bryan Flynn

"Amazing campground. So clean,so many activities, nice sized sites, enjoyed our week here, beach is beautiful. Everything is so close, groceries, fresh vegetables and fruit, pelee island national park and of course wineries. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone.  Sarah Abeele

"It was above and beyond the best campground my wife and I have ever stayed at! The staff was plentiful and very friendly, the facilities were immaculate, the other campers were nothing but hospitable and gracious and the view from the beach was simply breathtaking. We would recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors!" Mason Evans

"The grounds are beautiful clean and we'll cared for.The staff are very pleasant and helpful and will go the extra mile. There are many great activities for families with children. There is a train called Tootie that takes campers around the campground for free." Jill Winger Monforton

Did you know we offer a variety of Special Camping Weekends at the campground? We plan dates throughout the season that may be of interest to some campers. Our season starts out with a great opportunity for individuals that love to bird watch. These special weekends are popular, so if you see one that may meet your camping needs, it's always a good idea to reserve early!

Birding Special - April 29th - May 19th, 2016.

Birders have the option of booking one of our rental log cabins for just $50.00 a night, plus tax. We are located in the southern most point in Ontario and just a few minutes away from Point Pelee National Park and Hillman Marsh. Our birding special is available during the annual Festive of Birds.

Our campground is a prime location for those who love to see a wide variety of species and enjoy a unique blend of vegetation in the marshes, jungle-like Carolinian forest and Savannah grasslands. More than 370 species of birds have been recorded at Point Pelee and the surrounding area. This list, provided by Parks Canada, will give you an idea of which species you may see during the month of May. Monthly Summaries of Spring Migrants - May

If you know someone who enjoys Birding make sure you let them know before we are booked up!

Spring Special Weekend - April 29th - May 1st, 2016.

Join us for opening weekend and camp for a minimum of two nights for just $60.00, plus tax. You can start the camping season off with some fun activities for both the kids and adults. Enjoy a Tootee train ride, family bingo and Easter Egg Hunt.

We are approaching this weekend quickly. Yeah! Let your friends know we have some cabins and sites still available.

Bring A Friend Weekend - May 27th - May 29th, 2016.

This is a popular weekend and has become a favourite with our campers. You reserve two sites for the price of one! We call that a win-win. During the weekend we offer a variety of activities including: a scavenger hunt, marshmallow roast, a family dance and adult beach bonfire tunes.

The end of May is the perfect time to get away with family or friends. We cherish our time with family and friends and thought offering a "two for the price of one" sale would allow many families
an opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors together.

We just have a couple of sites left for this popular weekend. Sorry, our cabins are all booked up!

Fall Migration Special - September 12th - September 24th, 2016.

The fall months are also a time when birders can take advantage of our location and rates. You can rent one of our log cabins, any night of the week, for $60.00 plus tax. Enjoy the campground events and venture to prime local bird watching sites. Monthly Summary of Fall Migrants - September

Enjoy a preview of sunnier days ahead at Campers Cove Campground!

Sun, Fun and Friends, it won't be long now!

December 1, 2015

We can think of a hundred reasons to love camping, but here are ten of our favourites. If you haven't camped in a while, or perhaps never had the experience, now may just be the time to give it a try. Camping is an affordable option to spend quality time with the family, meet new friends and build lasting memories.

Today, there are so many options available for exploring nature and the great outdoors. Tents are affordable and come in a variety of sizes and styles. If you would rather not be sleeping right on the ground you can consider a camper trailer or a Motorhome. Many campgrounds also offer rental cabins. These cabins allow you to experience nature if you don't have your own camping equipment.

10 Reasons To Go Camping

1. Camping is a great way to reduce stress. Getting away from the daily routine of work and home is not only a plus for your physical health, but also allows you to take a mental break and clear some of that noise in your head.

2. Outdoor experiences are a wonderful way to reconnect with nature. Whether you take a hike through trails to observe the plant and animal life of the area, or sit quietly on your site listening to the sounds of the waves, you will soon feel a sense of relaxation.

3. Camping gives you a chance to disconnect from technology. Reading a book on the beach or enjoying a campfire get-together are healthy alternatives to the distraction of television and game-systems.

4. Nothing beats the taste of outdoor campfire cooking. Whether you are roasting hot dogs or making bacon and eggs in an iron skillet over the grill, the tastes of camping can't be found anywhere else.

5. The chance to be spontaneous and enjoy each day and moment as it comes. Whether you decide to spend the afternoon on the beach or biking a local trail you will have the ability to make choices based on your mood not a structured routine.

6. Stargazing on a clear night. Sitting outdoors and watching the sunset while listening to the sounds of nature that surround you.

7. Teaching the kids all about taking care of the environment. Camping is an opportunity to remind the little ones about all of the nature that surrounds them and why it is so important to take good care of it.

8. Meeting new campers who just could become lifelong friends. It is so much easier to get to know people in a relaxed and serene environment. Plus, you already know that you have one thing in common!

9. Creating life long memories for you and your family. Whether it is a fun experience, a burnt meal or a crazy squirrel the stories you make when you are camping will last for a lifetime of memories.

10. It is one of the best experiences to help you reconnect with your partner and/or your children. There is always time to take an interest in what is going on without the interruption of schedules and routines. Taking the time to catch-up with each other can easily happen during a relaxed camping adventure.

When you are camping you can experience the joy of disonnecting from crazy schedules and distracting enviroments. Spending some time sitting around a campfire toasting marmallows or having a sing song can help you return to the busier days ahead with a new sense of focus.

S'mores have been a traditional camping treat for decades. We all love the toasted marshmallow goodie and often scrimp on our meals to save space for the them. Over the past few years creative campers have come up with a few twists to the classic treat. We have put together our favourites and hope that you get a chance this summer not just to try one, but to try them all.

Don't worry, if you won't have a chance to get to the campground this year, we have also included cooking ideas for at home.

The Camper Classic S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a plain milk chocolate bar/bars, a bag of large marshmallows.

Equipment: Campfire, fire pit and a number of long sticks or BBQ skewers.

Directions: Make sure to break your graham crackers into squares, place an equal size piece of chocolate of half of the graham crackers. One layer will serve as the bottom of the s'more and the other will be the top to hold all the goodness in.

Lay your squares off to the side while you toast your marshmallow. Remember to turn your stick so that your marshmallow is toasted on all sides. When it is golden brown in colour, and begins to look a little gooey, carefully slide it onto the chocolate covered graham cracker.

Next, take your second/top cracker and squeeze it together. Much like you would when making a sandwich. Let it sit and cool for a bit. The heat will begin to melt the chocolate.

Once cooled, it's time to enjoy this mouth watering treat.

The Chocolate & Strawberry S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a dark chocolate bar, large marshmallows and two slices of strawberry.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Peanut Butter Cup S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a peanut butter cup and large marshmallows. If you like peanuts and a crunch you can also add a few.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Cookie S'more

Ingredients: Instead of using graham crackers try one of your favourite cookies, large chocolate chip cookies or even oatmeal cookies make for a delicious twist, a plain milk chocolate bar/bars and large marshmallows.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Minty S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a mint filled chocolate and large marshmallows.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Nutella Coconut S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, Nutella spread, toasted coconut and large marshmallows.

Directions: Spread the Nutella on both the top and bottom graham crackers, then add toasted coconut and your marshmallow.

Equipment as above.

The Banana Buddy S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, Nutella spread or a milk chocolate candy bar, banana slices and large marshmallows.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Gooey Caramel S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a chocolate caramel candy bar/square and large marshmallows.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Chocolate Bacon S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a milk chocolate candy bar, precooked bacon and large marshmallows.

Directions/Equipment as above.

The Adult's Only S'more

Ingredients: Graham crackers, a milk chocolate candy bar, large marshmallows and Baileys Irish Cream.

Directions; Have a small cup of Bailey's ready. Once the marshmallow is toasted, dip it in the Bailey's before you add to the chocolate covered graham cracker.

Equipment as above.

Hopefully these ideas will get you thinking about other ideas for creating your own scrumptious s'mores. There are so many things you can substitute and still end up with a delicious campfire treat.

If you aren't able to get out camping this summer you can still enjoy s'mores at home. If you have a fire pit or a BBQ then all of these ideas will work for you.

You can also make s'mores in the microwave. You lose a bit of the toasted marshmallow flavour, but they are still yummy!

  • Microwave S'mores - Place one graham cracker square on a plate. Place the marshmallow on the square. The place in the microwave on high for 10-14 seconds. Remove the plate from the microwave, and top with your chocolate and other desired ingredients. Add your second graham cracker, press together, cool and enjoy!
